CUFFS

The function for the opening sequence in TV programs is so that you should expect to see the name of the production companies, who the director, producer and actors all are. It is there to list the most important members of the production and it is usually shown as text on a black screen or infront of static images.

The opening sequence appealed to me because it was very colourful and it showed very clearly who the main characters are and what they do. The way Cuffs presented there opening sequence was very retro like, the images were very static and came and went very quickly which makes the audience pay attention to what is happening.

The aspects of the title sequence tell a story about Brighton's diversity because it shows many things around the city, it shows some parts of Brighton that are slightly more ruff that has graffiti on the walls and then on the next image it shows Brighton beach with many people on it. Many of the images are of the Police Officers either laughing or acting very serious which shows how there job varies a lot. There is images of a mosque which represents that there is a wide range of cultures in the area. On the whole Brighton seems to come across as a very bright and lively city.

There was many different types of characters in the show which is meant to engage many people from the mainstream audience. This is done so the majority of people will enjoy the show even if they aren't into watching crime. Throughout the program there will be a wide variety of scenes that will suite the kind of TV you enjoy watching.

Cuffs is on before the watershed at 9pm, this is because throughout the show they seem to be careful with how they record the scenes, when there is something violent going on they never seem to show completely what the area looks like. They also minimize the amount of strong language that they use so it is suitable to watch for a wide range of ages.

  1. You draw attention to Brighton's diversity, both in the ethnicities represented and the representation of the police:good. You are starting to support your comments with close textual analysis (graffiti).
You show understanding of the TV drama's diverse audience and the scheduling before the watershed: good.
